WWE is interested in bringing back released tag teams

WWE has gone through a lot of changes over the past few months. This includes bringing back several acts to the roster that were released in the last few years. Now, it looks like WWE is getting closer to bringing back another team that didn’t work during their first run with the company.

The Authors of Pain debuted on NXT in May 2016 and quickly made an impact, dominating their opponents with their size and strength. They won the NXT Tag Team Championship in August 2016 and held the titles for over six months before losing to SAnitY in April 2017. They were called up to the main roster of the Raw brand in April 2017, but suffered several injuries, and split in 2020.

Sadly, they were never able to replicate their NXT success on the main roster and after spending considerable time on the sidelines due to injuries, the duo were released from the company. After their WWE departures, neither man wrestled on the independent scene for any other promotion. In 2022, the team announced that they were starting their own promotion, the Wrestling Entertainment Series.

According to Fightful Select, WWE has had internal discussions about bringing back the Authors of Pain. Akam and Razor have been integral parts of WWE’s NXT brand and Triple H may be looking to bring them back in a much bigger way.

Fightful Select has learned that Akam and Razor, collectively known as the Authors of Pain or AOP, have been discussed for a possible return to WWE. Both were integral parts of the NXT Black and Gold brand before being called up to WWE Raw.

In addition, the possibility of their long-time principal manager Paul Ellering was also discussed. He managed them during their NXT run before being dropped to the main roster. The pair were close with Ellering and received his blessing to name themselves the Legion of Pain outside of WWE. There were originally rumors that Ellering did not want to travel to the main roster, which he denied.

This is another set of released WWE Superstars that Triple H is considering bringing back. Only time will tell if anything will come of these internal discussions. stay tuned Ringside News We bring similar stories for you.
