Few people in professional wrestling have had as whirlwind a year as William Regal in 2022. The famous wrestler-turned-trainer left WWE to join AEW, becoming a primary character in the company’s storyline as the manager of Blackpool Combat Club. Then in December, Regal surprisingly left AEW to rejoin WWE to be with his son, NXT star Charlie Dempsey.
All the twists and turns of 2022 have led Regal to share a piece of advice with the next generation of wrestlers: Cherish your time and don’t waste it. In the last episode “The Distraction Peace Podcast with Scroobius Pip“The WWE coach says his AEW run seems to have been “in the blink of an eye” now that he’s back with his former company.
“And it seems as if nothing has happened and nothing has changed in the slightest,” he said. “It’s weird. Anyone listening that young– I know you don’t like listening to old people– but make the most of every second you have on this earth, because … you get to a certain age and you hear it from all the old people. Up close, time goes so fast and we waste so much.”
Regal, 54, said his interview with Pip will be his last for now. “I haven’t been doing anything or wrestling or anything for at least a year and I’m happy with that,” Regal said, adding, “I’m pretty happy to be in the background.”
Dr. Regal He told WWE not to overuse him He thinks it should be about the talent and not him. In the past, Regal has played The Authority on “WWE NXT.”
“I’m quite happy not to be in the limelight,” he said. “And I have been for years. I’ve had my time.”
