The Pakistan The Cricket Board (PCB) led by Chairman Najam Shetty has invited 27 top divisions to participate in the upcoming domestic cricket season 2023-24. The country’s apex cricket board has formally written to the departments seeking their interest in participating in the competition, which is set to begin in August.

In the letter, the PCB not only asked the departments to confirm their participation for the upcoming season but also encouraged them to prepare strong cricket units. In addition, the Board assured that the program will receive maximum coverage and publicity through traditional and new media.

A letter has been sent to the departments on its behalf PCB Management Committee Chairman Najam Shetty and Dr As per PCB Constitution 2014. Adding to this, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is keen to see the return of the departments to play an important role in the growth and development of sports in the country. Income Tax, Air Force, Pakistan Army and Pakistan Navy are among the departments invited to participate in the event.

Nazam Shetty confirmed Mickey Arthur’s return to the Pakistan set-up

Meanwhile, 54-year-old Mickey Arthur is set to return as Pakistan’s head coach and is therefore likely to leave his current contract with English county side Derbyshire, where he holds the same role. PCB Chairman Najam Shetty has confirmed to personally hold talks on a contract with Arthur for the role.

“I am personally discussing with Mickey (Arthur) and we have solved 90 per cent of the problem. Hopefully, we will share the news that Mickey will be joining us soon. I want him to form his own team of coaches after he comes here,” Najam said at a press conference on Monday, January 23.

Former Pakistan spinner and current head coach Saqlain Mushtaq will not renew his coaching contract with the senior men’s national team as Arthur is expected to take over soon. Arthur led the team during 2016–19 where he helped the team win the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy and claim the No. 1 spot in the ICC T20 rankings.
