The debate regarding the greatest batsman of all time in One Day Internationals (ODIs) has always been an interesting topic among the fans as well as the cricket community. choice of Sachin Tendulkar, Vivian Richards, Ricky Ponting And Brian Lara Some outstanding names who have shown unreal batting talent courtesy of their consistent performances, numerous records and ability to score runs in all conditions.
I like modern era cricket Virat Kohli, AB de VilliersAnd MS Dhoni Some notable personalities who have impressed everyone with their incredible dominance, especially in the ODI format.
With so many candidates, the answer to the question of who is the best ODI batsman of all time is quite challenging. However, former Indian cricketer Dr Sanjay Manjrekar chose his choice. Manjrekar feels that Tendulkar is truly great while Kohli is undoubtedly the best ODI batsman of the last 20 years, but is no match for Windies legend Richards.
“When you look at the modern era, the last 20 years or so, Virat Kohli has been right there. Tendulkar is also one of the greatest of all time. Virat Kohli, in my book, fits the bill as a pure ODI player. MS Dhoni is another player that comes to my mind. But, no one comes close to Sir Vivian Richards, the all-time batsman in ODIs. Now, that might seem a little old-fashioned,” Manjrekar told Star Sports.
“Viv Richards played in the 70s to 90s at a time when all the top-class batsmen, people like Gordon Greenidge, averaged in the 30s and had strike rates in the 60s. Viv Richards, from 70s to 90s, including a World Cup final century, average 47 and strike rate 90. Second-best in his era was second-best by a long way,” Manjrekar added.
