Last month, Perez surprised fans when he Pulled off an amazing win over Mandy Rose on an episode of NXT to capture the NXT Women’s Title. However, Rose was let go from the company shortly after.
It was changed that Rose was let go after revealing explicit content on her subscription fan page. Perez recently spoke Group 919 About the whole ordeal, and what it was like to work with Rose in her final match with the company.
“For him to be such a good person, I was always grateful for him. In a way, I was a little sad, because it was happening, but he was so supportive and like, ‘You deserve it.’ It made it that much more special.
“Stay Booker T, my instructor, commented. My boyfriend was there too, he was a big part of my training and I became a wrestler. For them to be there and when they gave me the championship, holding it in my hand, it didn’t feel real until that moment.
“Everything I’ve been through, all the trials and tribulations, the ups and downs of this wrestling journey that I’ve been on since I was 13, all those moments have been worth it. It was finally real and it finally happened. It was madness.”
Perez noted that Rose actually supported him throughout the title run, telling him he deserved it.
Perez is in the midst of her first title reign as NXT Women’s Champion. She only signed with the company last March and is already a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion with Cora Z.
