“Ashwin is tough to face. He is a smart bowler with a lot of variations and he uses them very well, but after facing him for a while you get used to him,” Renshaw told AAP. “I think the big challenge for Ashwin and any offspinner in left-arm spinning conditions is the lbw threat.
“Obviously everyone thinks about him who turns and catches you at slip, but the big one is the lbw when it’s not spin. You just have to be prepared for that.
“I think two years batting at No.5 has helped me deal with spin. I know my game a lot better now and I’m a lot more comfortable in different situations. We have a strong squad and it will be difficult to push me. On the way in, however I know I’ll be ready when the opportunity comes.”
Renshaw is still part of Brisbane Heat’s BBL campaign and is preparing for India with spinners in his squad, such as Mitch Swepson, Matt Kuhnman and even Marnus Labuschagne, bowling him the SG ball which is used in India’s Test cricket. .
“The SG ball is a little bit different, so we’re trying to prepare as much as we can in this BBL schedule in case we get a window for the red ball to hit,” Renshaw said. “It’s a very different situation in India, so we’re trying to replicate them as much as possible.
