Jay Briscoe Family and friends gave an update on how her daughters are doing after being involved in a fatal car accident Tuesday evening

taking Facebook Live, Briscoe family friend Joshua Wharton read a prepared statement on behalf of Jay Briscoe’s wife, Ashley Pugh. Wharton claims the life of their father that the girls were injured in a car accident and that they are stable but have a long road to recovery in the future.

“On behalf of the Pugh family, we would like to thank Nanticoke Hospital for being so efficient in their medical care. [Nanticoke Hospital is the local hospital where Gracie and Jayleigh were admitted first so they could be stabilized and moved to another facility.] We want to thank our family and friends who wanted to be there and show support. Currently, the girls are stable but they both have a long road to recovery ahead of them.

When Gracie, 12, originally arrived in Nantico, she couldn’t feel anything from the waist down. He was diagnosed with an L2 dislocation and an L3/L4 fracture in his back with compression of his spine. After Nanticoke stabilized him, they transferred him to another hospital and he regained feeling in his thighs, but nothing less than his knees. At 3am on Wednesday the 18th he was taken straight to the operating room for an MRI. If the doctor was able to relieve the compression of his spinal cord, his surgery could also be expected. He still has feeling in his thighs but no movement yet. Gracie’s leg was on and off today, and Gracie’s progress will be on a daily basis over the coming months. He is quite badly bruised but at this time, no other injuries have been diagnosed.”

“Jaley Nantico suffered an open tibia and fibula fracture where he underwent surgery. They placed an external fixator and sent him back to the hospital. Jay Jay has been diagnosed with a C7 fracture in his neck and has been placed in a neck brace, which will keep him in for six weeks. He also has an L3 and L4 fracture in his back, which can be managed with a back brace for about 12 weeks. He has a right clavicle fracture from the seatbelt, as well as a broken rib on his right side. He has a small left pneumothorax, which is the area between the lung and the chest wall, not inside the lung. They are monitoring it, because it is not big enough to intervene as of this point. Today he was diagnosed with a perforated bowel with free fluid in his abdomen.”

It was noted that he underwent surgery for that problem and identified the problem site and got the bleeding under control.

“They defecated. While he was there, the orthopedic surgeon decided to do some manipulation on his leg to better align with the bone. He still has the external fixator and they put an NG tube under his nose to decompress his stomach and hopefully get it out tomorrow, and that will allow him to eat.”

Jay Briscoe (Bail Pugh) Killed in a car accident Jan. 17 in Laurel, Delaware. Lillian Ternahan, the driver of the other vehicle, also died in the crash. Delaware State Police issued a statement detailing the crash, which you can read here.
