NXT ran one angle of impact last night (January 24) for Nikita Lyons. Hope was that storyline, especially considering that Lyons was out for about a month last year Partial tear of his medial collateral ligament (MCL)..
Unfortunately, the 23-year-old tweeted this afternoon that he is dealing with a knee injury again.
Torn ACL and Meniscus. This return is private. Thank you to everyone who continues to show love and genuine support. It means to me that those of you who didn’t see the vision, thank you too. Stay there. This is just another education life needs. Love. pic.twitter.com/kOrMryOZsu

He doesn’t say if he needs ACL tear surgery, but they usually do. And if that’s the case, he’s probably looking at 6-9 months of recovery and rehab.
It’s a tough blow for a wrestler on the brink of a main event push in NXT’s 2.0 era. Since the latest rebrand change over WWE creative last summer, Lyons has been used less prominently. His highest profile angle was a split with tag partner Joey Stark, and a brief follow-up feud that Stark won.
We’ll see what’s next for him when he returns.
