The Red Wings’ latest UFA is pending Tyler Bertuzzi
David Pagnotta: Market squabbles with Pagnotta and Irfan Gaffer about what’s going on between the Detroit Red Wings and pending UFA Tyler Bertuzzi.
** NHLRumors.com transcription
Gaffer: “Detroit Red Wings have another player to make, Tyler Bertuzzi. What’s the latest out there?”
Pagnotta: “Not much. It seems like they’re focusing for now Dylan Larkin. Now after receiving some of this news, they have turned their attention to Tyler Bertuzzi. Discussions are expected to take place between them in the near future.
But there have been no recent talks between the two camps this week. But like me reported last week, Bertuzzi open and willing to sign an extension and long-term sticking in Detroit. They just need to go to the drawing board.
Gaffer: “Big Stevie Yzerman has his work cut out for him as, I guess, key pieces of that franchise still remain unsigned. So, interesting I guess five and a half, six weeks until the NHL trade deadline.
Suitable for five possible Timo Mayer and a comparative extension, and trade value
Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff: San Jose Sharks left winger Timo Meyer carries a $6 million salary cap hit and is owed a $10 million qualifying offer. He has an excellent shot and drive plays.
His contract situation is the biggest concern for the teams. If he doesn’t qualify for $10 million, he will become an unrestricted free agent.
Possible fits include the New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, Pittsburgh Penguins, Tampa Bay Lightning and Winnipeg Jets.
Comparative trade returns.
