In today’s NHL Rumors rundown, the Toronto Maple Leafs may be of interest Sam Lafferty of the Chicago Blackhawks. Meanwhile, the New Jersey Devils could be a team of interest to Timo Meyer. The Dallas Stars are expected to add before the NHL trade deadline and several teams have checked in with the Columbus Blue Jackets about defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov. Why haven’t the Vancouver Canucks allowed teams to talk about a contract extension with Bo Horvat, and is there anything that will prevent Pierre-Luc Dubois from eventually ending up with the Montreal Canadiens?
Are the Maple Leafs like Sam Lafferty?
Jonas Siegel and Scott Powers of The Athletic write that the Chicago Blackhawks will have interest in Sam Lafferty. Among the teams that might like him are the Toronto Maple Leafs.
They wrote that he is a strong two-way forward and:
“Couple Lafferty’s reliable bottom-six play with an affordable contract ($1.15 million cap hit through the 2023-24 season), and he’s expected to draw some interest at the trade deadline. The Blackhawks are open to hearing from almost anyone.”

The devil is interested in Meier and Horvat
Friedman noted during his latest episode 32 Thoughts Podcast The New Jersey Devils want to make a big swing this season and are rumored to be targeting Bo Horvat or one of the Bo Horvats. Timo Mayer. He noted, “I think Meyer is probably New Jersey’s target more than Horvat, but I think they were close.”
Friedman noted how they already have Swiss-born players Nico Hisier and Jonas Seigenthaler in the team, and Meyer would be a good fit.
They can add a small piece
Friedman and Jeff Marek took some time The Jeff Marek Show for discussion The Dallas Stars and how they are a legitimate Stanley Cup contender this season. Friedman hopes to add them before the deadline, however, he’s not confident it will be a big chunk. Marek believes the Stars could hang Radek Faksa in there as a trade piece to acquire something else they need.

Fox has a $3.25 million cap hit and is signed for two additional seasons after that.
Several teams are interested in Gavrikov
Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff Columbus has added several teams to the list of clubs already showing interest in the Blue Jackets’ Vladislav Gavrikov. Friedman previously reported that both the Edmonton Oilers and Maple Leafs could be in the vicinity, but Serravalli added that the 27-year-old pending UFA defenseman is getting a lot of attention.
A left-sided shutdown guy who can play anywhere from the third pairing on a deep team to the top pairing on a weak team, Serravalli said the Vegas Golden Knights, and the Pittsburgh Penguins, are also kicking the tires on the player.
Dubois is still likely headed to the Canadiens
Nick Kyprios was on “Team & Friends” and mentioned that he believes nothing will stop Pierre-Luc Dubois from going to the Montreal Canadiens. He’s hearing that even a Stanley Cup in Winnipeg won’t change Dubois’ mind, and that a long-term future with the Jets is all but impossible.
Dubois is a pending restricted free agent with arbitration rights on July 1 and has been linked numerous times to the Canadiens. Kypreos suggests the only reason Dubois isn’t talked about more often and before the deadline is because of how well the Jets are playing. “He’s not staying in Winnipeg long term,” Kipress said. “From what I’m hearing, there’s nothing that can change his mind”.
