For the previous two years, Mohammad Rizwan Pakistan’s most consistent run scorer at the top. It is often questioned whether he plays at a suitable strike rate for T20 cricket.
The wicketkeeper-batsman now claims that, despite how terrifying it may seem to the audience, he has to do it whenever a team chooses to sign him for the T20 league.
Here’s what Mohammad Rizwan had to say about the difficulty of anchoring an innings in T20 cricket Interview with Cricbuzz:
“Playing the role of an anchor in the shortest format is very difficult and sometimes it looks very embarrassing. What my experience says and what I know is that whenever someone hires me, they demand me to play the anchor role in Pakistan. Sometimes it’s embarrassing because in T20, everyone knows we like sixes and they want me to score 60-70 runs off 35-45 balls.Mohammad Rizwan Md.

Mohammad Rizwan is the idol of AB de Villiers
Also, Mohammad Rizwan insisted that he looks up to AB de Villiers and tries to change his style of play according to every game situation, just like the South African legend did at his peak.
“My cricket idol is AB de Villiers and I look up to him very closely and his performances in Test cricket and T20s as well and that’s why I try to play as per the needs of the team. In T20 cricket, sometimes you can go slow, when you have lost a few wickets, but when the team needs you to hit the long ball, you can go with speed.“
Rizwan is currently a player in the Bangladesh Premier League, where he plays for Comilla Victorians.
