Strong Indian batter, Suryakumar Yadav, has been on the rise since his introduction to international cricket. He was outstanding in T20 cricket for Team India. His unique shot range and ability to place the ball in the gap is rarely seen in modern day cricket. Yadav has the ability to beat bowlers and use his strengths to his advantage.

The Mumbai-born T20 prowess earned him a place in the ODI and Test squads for the upcoming series against New Zealand and Australia. But despite getting regular opportunities in the format, he has not been able to score big in ODI cricket so far.

Indian cricket legend, Kapil Dev said that he failed to understand the call taken by the team management to drop Suryakumar Yadav from the ODI squad. He felt Skye is a match winner and can win you games with the quality shots he has in his skill set.

Talking to Gulf News, the World Cup-winning captain said, “Having said that, they should have a team for a certain period of time. You can change a strange person. I understood that. But the next day if your man of the match (Suryakumar Yadav) is out and someone else comes in, we as cricketers don’t understand that.

Kapil Dev had a different perspective compared to other cricket pundits and experts. He believed that there should be three separate teams for the three formats as it would give opportunities to more players.

The legendary skipper added, “I think we should leave it to the cricket board what they (selectors) plan. Many cricketers are coming so everyone should get a chance to play. What I can see from the outside is that they will have three teams – one each for T20Is, ODIs and Tests. That way, you can get a bigger pool.”

Team India is set to play 17 more ODIs along with the Asia Cup before heading to the ODI World Cup in October. This will be a great opportunity to test all your players and build a proper squad full of talent and experience.
