After an epic debut against Pakistan in 2022, former England spinner Panesar claimed Rehan Ahmed is a huge prospect.

Rehan Ahmed became England’s youngest ever debutant after making the XI against Pakistan in Karachi. He had a dream debut against Pakistan with a five-wicket haul in the second innings to help his side win the tournament. With those five wickets, England managed a clean sweep against the hosts and it was a huge achievement for Rehan and the England team.

An earlier video of the late Shane Warne also started trending on social media where he was seen telling young Rehan Ahmed that he could very well play county cricket at the age of 15/16. Monty Panesar also gave his opinion on the young spinner and how he can be a great asset to the England team going forward.

The spinner said, “England did so well in Pakistan that they had the luxury of a Test match to watch him and he did really well. He performed well and he showed his credentials. I don’t know if he will play regularly or not, but he will go on the trip and if Jack Leach can’t perform then they’ve got someone in Rehan Ahmed. He paces the ball, which is most important for a spinner in Test cricket. But seeing him raised his glass ceiling. He had little experience, but with Rehan Ahmed you think ‘yes, he has a big future’.

Monty Panesar who has represented England in 50 Tests and has 167 wickets to his name, has been part of many series played by the nation. He was the team’s main spinner for quite some time and took wickets for his country at crucial stages of the game. He, along with James Anderson and Stuart Broad, was the backbone of England’s bowling attack.
