DeWald idolizes Braves Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav while playing for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022

DeWald Brevis has said that he idolized many players, e.g Rohit Sharma And Suryakumar Yadav And said he enjoyed playing with Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2022. DeWald Brevis said he learned a lot from his time at the competition last year.

DeWald Brewis expressed his admiration for India’s Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav and talked about his experience playing in the IPL with Mumbai Indians.

Dewald Brevis had a great time in the tournament last year as people took note of his performances for the five-time IPL champions. The youngster has maintained his association with MI as he is now part of MI Cape Town in the SA20. Dewald Brevis says the setup is great in Cape Town, just like it was in Mumbai.

“My blood is blue and my favorite color is blue. So just to be able to be a part of this one family, it’s been amazing because everything like the setup is absolutely fantastic here in Cape Town, just like it is in Mumbai. So to be a part of this family is absolutely amazing,” said Dewald Brevis.

The young South African batsman said he idolizes a lot of players like Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav and enjoys playing with them. Dewald Brevis says he has learned a lot in the IPL and had many fanboy moments during his time in the competition.

“I idolized many players like, Rohit Sharma and Surya Kumar and all other big players, I enjoyed playing with these legends.”

“I think I have learned a lot in IPL. I had my fanboy moments after meeting these stars but my coaching team made me feel like I belonged to the family and advised me not to be unduly embarrassed, I think that helped me too.”

The young South African said he idolized Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav and had a big fanboy moment when he joined MI during IPL 2022. The right-handed batsman scored 161 runs in seven outings in his first season for MI.

At just 18, Dewald Brevis was paid Rs 3 crore by Mumbai Indians to keep the South African in their corner after high-voltage bidding in the IPL 2022 auction. Those who followed the ICC U19 World Cup 2022 know what he is capable of.

At such a young age, he has already drawn comparisons with the great AB de Villiers and the cricket community has started calling him ‘Baby AB’. He finished as the highest run-scorer in the ICC U19 World Cup 2022 tournament, amassing 506 runs in six games with two centuries and three half-centuries at an average of 84.33.

Dewald Brevis opens up about his experience with MI Cape Town and says he is enjoying every moment at the SA20.

“It’s the new thing you pick up from them. They give you important information. Hash (Hashim Amla), he is such an amazing coach and person so he calms me down and helps me move a lot.

“Same with coach Simon, he’s amazing as a coach. So there is always time to share things and learn from him. We always talk a lot about it and what’s going on with my batting. So all the coaches share so much good information that you can take into your game,” he added.

“I’m really enjoying every moment (at SA20). MI Cape Town’s home ground at Newlands is a special place (for us). We already had special memories (here),” said Dewald Brevis.

The right-handed batsman played a brilliant innings of 70 runs against the Pearl Royals in the opening game and guided his team to victory. The 19-year-old has scored 135 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 109.76 in the ongoing South Africa T20 League.
