Kroeber was recently interviewed by Fightful, where he talked about his brief AEW stint and how it all came about.
“I see during the pandemic, everyone is locked down. I’m still working, thank God. We were able to stay open. I see darkness and heights, and I really wanted to go down. I said, ‘They have this three-hour show, maybe I can find a place. I hope I can find a place to do some things here. But I work in physical therapy, I’m in New Jersey and they had a law where if you went out of state you had to lock yourself down for ten days and that wasn’t possible. So I started doing videos, the promos I was doing. That was my wrestling outlet.”
How his AEW Dark: Elevation match against Joey Janela fared:
“Yeah. The promotion was my outlet. I had to do something wrestling oriented and that happened. I was actually in Disney, on vacation in July. I had an AEW match in October and I got a text from QT saying, ‘Hey, we’re going to bring you. Janela. Wants to work with you.’ The first day of the Disney vacation, I had this desire to eat what you want, drink what you want. Now I’m getting up earlier, doing more cardio, watching what I eat. It was really an unexpected blessing, that whole thing popped up. From there. I take things more seriously. Not that I don’t take it seriously, but you get that taste and I go, ‘Oh, that’s great.’ I’ve been training harder. I’ve been getting in the ring more, doing more, AEW goes to Flair’s show, Flair’s show goes to New Japan, Impact last night. So it was kind of fun.”
