Chris Jericho on AEW Star: ‘When he’s on TV, the ratings go up’

Chris Jericho is a fan of Suarv Strickland.

The former AEW World Heavyweight Champion praised Strickland for being able to draw TV ratings. He thinks it’s because of Strickland’s relationship with the audience.

“If you get that top spot and you don’t draw and people don’t watch your matches…TV ratings are very important,” Jericho said WTF with Marc Maron (H/T to fight) “I read the minute-by-minute TV ratings every week, how did it look? How did this guy do it? Who is drawing every week? Whenever he is on, the rating goes up you can see this pattern. Swerve Strickland is one of those guys. He’s not a ratings bonanza, but every time he’s on, the ratings go up.”

Jericho continued, “They are [Swerve & Jade] They are the stars and I want to see what this person is doing. On that subject. If you don’t draw…my boss, Tony Khan is a fan of numbers. If you are placed in that position and the rating drops, you will no longer be placed in that position. This is part of it. You need to connect and people need to see you on screen. If not, you won’t be on screen in that position, or maybe you won’t be in the original show, you’ll be in the next show. It also has dimensions.”
