Brock Lesnar once broke Kurt Angle’s neck in three places with a chair shot

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle is undoubtedly one of the greatest pro wrestlers ever Has ever graced a pro wrestling ring. The Olympic gold medalist has done more in one year than many pro wrestlers do in their entire career. That being said, Kurt Angle has duked it out with many of the top stars in WWE, the best being Brock Lesnar. In fact, Lesnar once broke Angle’s neck in three places with a chair shot.

Kurt Angle feuded with Brock Lesnar in 2003 and had many instant classic matches against The Beast Incarnate. Angle’s rivalry with Brock proved to the world how good the two were together.

As fans are now aware, Kurt Angle has a history of breaking his neck. That being said, the lesser known incident that caused him to break his neck was in the latter half of 2003.

Angle failed to inform Brock Lesnar that, due to a previous neck injury, he should not be hit over the head with a chair one night in late 2003.

Chris Benoit, aware of his own history of neck injuries, made sure to warn Brock Lesnar about hitting him over the head with a steel chair that same night. As a result, Lesnar rocked the chair to the side.

Well, Brock Lesnar hit me in the head with a chair and he brought it. I mean, when I tell you he brought it, he really brought it. The thing is, me and Chris Benoit both got hurt by Brock’s chair that night. Chris, before the match started, he said to Brock, ‘Hey, swing over my head because I’ve had neck surgery, and I don’t want you to come straight up.’

“I didn’t tell Brock,” he continued. “So he hits Benoit in the side, and Benoit’s neck is fine. “He went up and hit me on the top of the head as hard as he could, and I broke – three broken vertebrae. I had bone chips in my neck, and I had two discs that slipped in my spine. So I kind of messed myself up again. This was the third time I broke my neck.

Kurt Angle would be signed for several months shortly after WrestleMania in 2004 before facing Eddie Guerrero at that year’s SummerSlam. He also shot down rumors that he beat up Lesnar. The two will always have a great relationship and that’s all that matters.
