Billy Corgan Not fueled by coffee, but rather by tea.

out of running National Wrestling Alliance, Billy Corgan spent more than three decades on the road with his band, the Smashing Pumpkins. Since forming in 1988, Corgan has been a permanent fixture in the group as a vocalist, guitarist and songwriter, with many tours on the books. With a busy schedule, many may turn to coffee to keep their energy up, but not Billy Corgan.

“I don’t really drink coffee,” he said wrestling newscos steve fall. “I never drank coffee in my whole life.” Corgan continued, noting that he enjoys caffeine, but preferably in the form of tea. “I own a tea house [Madame ZuZu‘s Tea Emporium in Chicago]. Few people know it. So, I serve some of the best tea in the world. I am a tea drinker, but I am not a big fan of the smell of coffee,” he said.

On March 4, Corgan will be gearing up for another tour in Mexico City, playing a headlining music festival The world is a vampire — a name reminiscent of a popular song “Bullet With Butterfly Wings”, released as a single in 1995 by the Smashing Pumpkins. When asked if he still thinks the world is really a vampire, Corgan stood by his previous statement.

“I wrote that lyric sitting in the BBC studios in London in 1994, and here we are 26 years later or something like that. The lyric still holds up pretty well, right? The world, at least in our lifetime, has never been more mischievous, if you want to look at that word. That doesn’t mean good.”
