Betway Bets of the Day – January 23, 2023

welcome back Betway Bets of the day! All bets are for one unit unless otherwise stated.

Our first bet of the day New York Islanders and Toronto Maple Leafs u5.5 Total Goals. This line sits at +110.

For both the Islanders and Maple Leafs, their consistency in the backend has been their strength this season. The Islanders are averaging 2.94 goals per game (24th in the NHL), thanks to their team defense that leaves them just 3 points out of a playoff spot. New York allowed an average of 2.77 goals per contest (9th best in the NHL). Prospective Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin has been outstanding this season, posting a 2.37 GAA and a .924SV%. Toronto has a similar story: their defensive numbers are near the top of the league. The Maple Leafs have fared slightly better than the Islanders, though, allowing Toronto an average of 2.64 goals per game (6th in the NHL). Maple Leafs prospect goaltender Ilya Samsonov is coming off a 2.22 GAA and .919SV% tonight.

History will be on Under’s side tonight. In the last handful of matchups between these two teams, four of the previous five have been under 5.5 hits. As with history, the Islanders’ recent inability to score is a strong indication of the under potential. New York has not scored more than 3 goals in a game since January 3, 2023.

Our second bet of the day Artemi Panarin is an anytime goal scorer. This line sits at +187.

Panarin has turned into a matchup nightmare for the Florida Panthers. Panarin has scored a goal in three straight games against Florida and in four of the last five. I love this bet price of the day as a result. Panarin is finding scoring opportunities, as he’s taking 4 shots on goal per game in his last three games.

The Rangers forwards will also have plenty of opportunities to find the scoresheet tonight, as Panarin is averaging just over twenty minutes of ice time this season. Panarin is said to skate alongside Zibanejad and Kreider on the Rangers’ top line and will be penciled in on the top power play unit. The Panthers are third in the bottom of the league in goals allowed per game (3.38).
