BCCI has invited applications for two vacancies in the Selection Committee

For two open vacancies in Junior Men’s Selection Committee and Senior Women’s Selection Committee, respectively, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued an invitation for applications.

Early this month. As a result of Sharath’s promotion to the Senior Men’s Selection Committee, a vacancy has arisen in the Men’s Junior Selection Committee. Candidates must have played at least 25 first-class matches and retired from the game at least five years back to meet the requirements listed in the job posting on the board’s website.

With 139 appearances in first-class matches and 8700 runs for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket, Sarath Jr. chaired the men’s selection committee that selected the Indian team led by Yash Dhul, who led the team to victory in the Under-19 Men’s World Cup. West Indies in February 2022.

Apart from the standard parameters for employment tasks and obligations, an interesting note was made about the need for the candidate to “inculcate proper morals in the youth, especially by interacting with senior and ex-players on matters like drugs, betting and match-fixing, etc.”

Randev Bose, Harwinder Singh Sodhi, Krishan Mohan and Prateek Patel currently make up the junior men’s selection committee after Sharath was elevated to the senior men’s panel. A vacancy has arisen in the senior women’s selection committee headed by Neetu David, as Mithu Mukherjee’s term has expired.

Mukherjee, a former India international, had about two years left on his contract when the BCCI formed the current panel in September 2020, but was a member of the previous national selection panel. However, his tenure eventually ended in September last year with the committee one member short.

Aarti Vaidya, Renu Margaret, and V Kalpana are currently the other members of the senior women’s selection committee. The competitor must have played for the senior women’s team and must have stopped competing five years ago, among other requirements. The candidate will be expected to select “the best possible team in a fair and transparent manner”.

The candidate must travel to watch both domestic and international matches, as well as attend team meetings as required. The BCCI notification also added that the candidate must be “responsible for vetting and selecting coaches and support staff (physiotherapists, trainers, therapists, analysts and physicians) for the respective teams.”

Additionally, the post involves selecting a captain for each format, submitting draft and evaluation reports of respective teams’ results to the BCCI Apex Council on a monthly basis and speaking to the media on squad selection as directed by the BCCI.

Application deadline for both open positions is 28 Jan 1800 hrs. Shortlisted persons will be contacted for personal interview for additional evaluation after BCCI reviews the applications.

The interviews will be conducted by a three-member Cricket Advisory Committee, comprising Sulakshan Naik and Jatin Paranjape and headed by Ashok Malhotra.
