BAN vs IRE: Ireland set to play Test match against Bangladesh – Cricket Addict

The Ireland cricket team is visiting Bangladesh for a full tour of 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is and 1 Test. The tour is set to begin on March 18 and will be Ireland’s first visit to Bangladesh as the last one was way back in 2008. Ireland played 3 Test matches in 2018 after gaining status.

This ODI series is not a part of the World Super League but with the World Cup around the corner, both teams will be eyeing ample match practice, especially Ireland whose direct qualification for WC 2023 is in doubt. Currently, Ireland are in 10th place with 68 points from 21 matches while Bangladesh have already qualified.

“Of particular interest to the players and supporters will no doubt be the last match on the schedule – this match marks Ireland’s return to Test cricket. It will undoubtedly be a challenging experience for our squad in Asian conditions, but it will be invaluable for the development of our players knowing that we will be playing a lot of cricket in Asia in the coming years.” she added.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nizamuddin Chowdhury emphasized on ICC FTP. “Ireland’s tour of Bangladesh is another exciting event in our home season after the series against India and England. BCB and Cricket Ireland have a cordial and strong relationship and the two boards have worked very closely to arrange this bilateral tour despite the challenges of a busy international calendar. It is also a statement of BCB’s commitment to the ICC FTP. Nizamuddin Chowdhury said.

The tour promises to be an exciting one as Bangladesh are currently on a roll. The Bangladeshi Tigers recently defeated India against all odds and made a statement that they are not the only participating team. Ireland will be very happy as they will be playing against the best team.
