Veteran Pakistani all-rounder Nida Dar sparked controversy in the third and final ODI against Australia when she withdrew to face a delivery at the very last moment. The Australian players were not happy with his behavior as the ball hit the stumps only for the on-field umpire to deem it a dead ball.

Bismah Maruf’s Pakistan had to chase down a mammoth 336 to avoid a whitewash in the three-match ODI series. Despite his team’s bright start in the record run chase, the Australian bowlers struggled in the powerplay with a few wickets. Despite these two crucial setbacks, the Women in Green were in a strong position as skipper Nida Dar continued to go steady at the crease.

However, a controversial moment took center stage during Tahlia McGrath’s 27th over. The tall Aussie quickly bowled the fifth ball of the over, but Nida Dar, who was on strike, was just before the ball pitched and hit her stumps. The on-field umpire called it a dead ball as the batter had moved out of the delivery. But the home side was not satisfied as they thought the batsman had a clear view of the ball and was out too late.

Beth Mooney’s rolling century takes Australia to a huge lead

At the start of the match, the hosts were invited to bat first in the contest after Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first. The Aussies wobbled early in their innings after Phoebe Lichfield was dismissed cheaply in the eighth over. But opener Beth Mooney, who had scored a blistering half-century in the previous match, smashed the Pakistani bowlers with a sensational 133 off just 105 balls.

Australia captain Meg Lanning also contributed, scoring 72 off 70 deliveries before quick cameos from Annabel Sutherland and Ashley Gardner, which took them to a formidable total of 336 from 50 overs. In the chase, Pakistan got off to a decent start but lost their way in the middle overs and could only manage 235 runs on the board as the home side completed a clean sweep of the ODI series.
