“Asian Cricket Council to discuss Asia Cup and India’s participation next month” – PCB Chairman Najam Shetty

Asia Cup 2023 is going to be played in 50-over format as the 2022 edition was played in T20 format due to WC 2022. Asia Cup 2023 is still uncertain as BCCI has made it clear that they won’t go to Pakistan for the tourney.

PCB has not organized the Asia Cup since 2008. BCCI secretary and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Joy Shah wants the championship to be held at a neutral venue. Pakistan Despite winning crucial moments of the match, the Asia Cup 2022 could not be won.

Nazam Shetty in Asia Cup 2023

Nazam Shetty was interacting with media and was asked about Asia Cup 2023. “It is a big step forward that the ACC Board will meet in Bahrain on February 4 and issues related to the Asia Cup will be discussed. There will also be an ICC meeting in March and I do not want to go public with what I have discussed with the ACC members in Dubai or what I plan to do, argue or discuss in the upcoming meeting. But yes of course India and Pakistan cricket relationship is important. Nazam Sethi said.

Nazam Shetty in ICC Champions Trophy 2025

PCB Chairman Najam Shetty also made a statement about the 2025 Champions Trophy. The hosting of the Asia Cup this year is very important and India sending its team is a big issue as it will obviously affect the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan in 2025. Nazam Sethi said.

Now it seems that ICC must intervene in this issue and find a way out of it as the India vs Pakistan rivalry is considered to be the biggest. It will be interesting to see what stand BCCI takes as they said that sending a team to Pakistan is a purely government decision and we all know that the two countries do not have good relations.
