After achieving success in white-ball cricket, former India player Suresh Raina believes that the team’s star player Suryakumar Yadav must participate in Tests.

He also said that without the batter, “all three formats should not exist.” Suryakumar has had a phenomenal year with the bat, breaking numerous records and setting a new standard in the T20 format.

He scored 1164 runs at a ridiculous strike rate of 187.43, becoming the only batsman in T20 history to score more than 1000 runs in a calendar year.

“Of course, the way he performs. He has to play in all three formats and none of them should exist without him.

In an interview with Akash Chopra aired on Viacom18 Sports, Raina said, “The way he performed, the way he showed intent, the way he planned different shots, he also plays without fear and knows how to use the ground level.”

He is a player from Mumbai who plays red ball cricket well. Playing Test cricket will help him establish himself in ODIs and give him some stability, so I believe he has a great chance. He would get a lot of 100s and then 200s,” he said.

Agreeing with Raina, Pragyan Ojha said, “Definitely he should be in the Test team.” I believe he should play in all three formats with the way he has performed and played cricket.

I am aware of the reasons for this inquiry. The way young talent Sarfaraz Khan is currently acting. I recognize that temptation exists and believe it will come. But Surya deserves to be in the Test team.”
