“If we can find a place for him, we will let him play,” Rohit said after the third ODI against New Zealand. “Right now Kohli is at number 3, Ishan Kishan At No. 4 – He sat out the last series after scoring a double century. At number 5 is Suryakumar Yadav, the whole world knows what he is doing and then at number 6. Hardik Pandya. We want everyone to play but we can’t until we have a place for them.”
There were some reports that Patidar might make his debut at Indore as it is his home ground but Rohit said that the team will take the decision keeping in mind future tournaments.
“I know maybe we could have played him in Indore. In Ranchi, Ishaan will also say, let me play, I am from Ranchi. But that’s not how it works, we go according to some plans. Everyone will get a chance. That’s what we told the boys, we’ll give you a chance to play whenever we can but should that chance come, there’s a lot of boys waiting in line,” added Rohit.
